Rocket Science – 2008
This piece involves mailing a John Smith in each of the 50 United States a series of handmade common sense pamphlets. Each pamphlet is assembled by the artist using a typewriter, graph paper, and photocopies of images from books.
Each pamphlet contains three common sense-isms, ex: If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.
The John Smiths serve as representatives for their state, and are asked to “spread the good word,” by the artist.
